Organic White Basmati Rice

"Basmati rice" literally means - the fragrant rice. Unique climatic conditions found in the rich, fertile Himalayan foothills, contribute to the characteristic aromatic qualities of Indian basmati rice. The long, slender grains of basmati rice are popular for their popcorn like taste worldwide. Each grain cooks separate and fluffy.

Enray is proud to be the first to offer organic basmati rice in the US. Our organic basmati rice is grown by many small farmers groups. We support the livelihood of our basmati farmers by paying the farmers a premium for their crop. As a result of these efforts, a co-operative of the small farmers has been formed and to further their cause and encourage sustainable farming practices, Enray introduced Fair Trade (TM) organic basmati rice in the US - the premiums from which are used by the cooperative to build access roads, schools and to develop basic infrastructure in the farming communities.

White basmati rice is completely milled and polished and it cooks in 10-12 minutes. The grain elongates about 1.5 times in length upon cooking. It is a wonderful accompaniment to curries and also popular as a main dish.
